melbourne skin clinic:
100% airbrush + foundation free
Foundation free skin therapists
preaching real, HEALTHY skin
Exciting news... Skinovations HAVE goNE 100% airbrush and foundation free!
Why? 90% of our clients write on their new client form "I want to wear less makeup", "I want to feel comfortable leaving the house without makeup" or similar. As skin therapists we are preaching skin health and healthy skin messages, all whilst doing a consultation wearing makeup and handing them a brochure that had been significantly airbrushed. It didn't make sense.
Whilst we were really grateful to be provided with marketing materials by our suppliers, we also felt really uncomfortable displaying images that didn't give a real representation of skin. Real, healthy skin. And real, healthy skin still has pores, lines, pigment and pimples, and yet we are surrounded by images (and language) that say the opposite. By default it's telling us that real skin is wrong - and that's not how we feel or what we do.
Making the change was an organic transition. We removed all the posters, we even stopped wearing foundation (yes, we are foundation free Skin Therapists), and put plans in place for the rest.
Obviously this project also represented an opportunity to showcase our clients - with each one of them having a different journey. We actually had many more keen to participate in our photoshoots, but coordinating everyone over a couple of days represented a challenge. But watch this space!
We teamed up with a professional photographer, well known local snapper Lauren Sadler, who captured the girls perfectly.
You'll see these real skins featured all over our marketing materials. Our website, internal brochures, posters, and social media. What you'll notice is that all of our skin health clients still have lines, all of our acne or problematic skins still get blemishes, all of our barrier disorder clients still experience redness. That's real skin, let's celebrate.
